Compromise of 1877 - In United States the Compromise of 1877 was an informal, unwritten deal that settled the disputed Election of 1876 by awarding the White House to the Republican Rutherford Hayes on the implicit understanding he would remove the federal troops that were propping up Republican state governments in South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana. President Ulysses Grant removed the soldiers from Florida in January.

Missouri Compromise - The Missouri Compromise, also called the Compromise of 1821, was an agreement passed in 1821 between the pro-slavery and anti-slavery factions in the United States, involving primarily the regulation of slavery in the western territories. The compromise was specifically repealed by the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854.
